Selective perception, from a psychological standpoint, is how we view our world to create or justify our own reality (Sherif & Cantril, 1945)

The Selective Perception is a personal blog written by myself, Christina.

Who am I? As an undergraduate student at Simon Fraser University, I am pursuing a BA in Communications, with an interest in Marketing and Public Relations. Currently, I lead a team of talented individuals as the VP Corporate Relations in AIESEC SFU, and have recently been elected as its next Local Committee President for the 2012-13 year.

Born in the Philippines, raised in Indonesia, and residing in the beautiful city of Vancouver, BC. I grew up as an expat kid, or Third Culture Kid. Inquisitive, adventurous and global-minded are words I like to describe myself with. As a child, I enjoyed reading books by Enid Blyton, and soon aspired to become a children’s author. I wrote short stories and poetry, and found a passion in writing. As I approached my sweet sixteen, I discovered a world outside of fiction novels. I dreamt about becoming a journalist, and all the possible things I could write about.  To this day, I continue to be an avid reader, writer and proud member of the grammar police.

Blogging is my favourite outlet of self-expression. Who keeps a written journal these days? This blog will contain writing about my interests, which include social media, marketing, interpersonal communication, and team building. Other topics likely included will be my adventures in and out of Vancouver, my quest to become a gym rat, delicious food, university, and the organisations I am associated with.
